Our Summer Domestic season will recommence on Saturday 29 January and we can’t wait to see players back in action.
Fixtures should be available early next week. With such a full competition this season, fixtures are a little challenging. Please bear with us regarding fixturing during February in particular, as some of our venues have changed availability and we will need to juggle things a little.
As we lead into January 29, you need to be aware of the COVID requirements as they currently stand. It’s also important to note these requirements are set by the State Government and are subject to change. As soon as we understand the nature of any changes and their impact on our competition and players, we will update you so please keep a close eye on your inbox over the next few weeks.
For now though, please be aware of the following:
COVID REQUIREMENTS AT GAME VENUES
As per the Government’s current requirements, masks must be worn in all public indoor settings and visitors must check in via the ServiceWA or Safe WA app when attending the venues our Summer Domestic games are played at.
Children under 12 are not required to wear a mask.
Masks are not required when engaging in vigorous activity (i.e. while the players are on court playing basketball).
VACCINATION STATUS
At this stage, we have received no indication from Basketball WA (who are guided by the State Government) that proof of vaccination will be required for players 16+ participating in domestic competition fixtures on Saturday 29 January.
However, please know that beyond January 31, as mandated by the State Government, every playing venue in Perth will be operating under new rules. As all our playing venues are indoor, multipurpose facilities with large capacities, they will require proof of vaccination for all people above 16 years of age.
Please be aware that you or your child (if they are 16 or over) will not be able to enter these facilities for Domestic games without proof of vaccination. If this impacts you, please discuss this with your child’s team manager or coach so they are aware of player availability.
The following acceptable forms of proof will be required upon entry to the facility and are to be shown at front reception each visit:
NO ID REQUIRED:
- ServiceWA app digital Covid-19 certificate
- Express Plus Medicare app digital Covid-19 certificate
ID REQUIRED:
- myGov app digital Covid-19 certificate
- Smartphone Wallet app digital certificate
- Printed copy of certificate
- Printed or digital copy of immunisation history statement

MEDICAL EXEMPTIONS
If you are unable to receive the vaccine for a medical reason you will be required to show a medical exemption certificate. This will need to be shown in the same way as the above options for the Covid-19 certificate.
Please remember staff tasked with this job will simply be carrying out the Government’s mandated requirements. We ask that whatever your views on this matter, you demonstrate kind and respectful behaviour in line with the values of Perth Basketball Association as we enter our playing venues.
