Inclusive Program

The Redbacks Inclusive Basketball Program is run by volunteer coaches and comprises of players 11 years and older of all ability levels.

Returning in Term 3, we play on Tuesday afternoons between 4:45 and 5:45 pm at Cockburn ARC.

Players who are not able to play in ‘mainstream’ teams are given the opportunity to play basketball in a friendly inclusive environment. We are proudly supported by the Perth Redbacks Basketball Association.

We demonstrate great team spirit and new friendships are formed through our common interests.

 Our aims are:

  • For all players participating to learn to play basketball to their potential
  • For players to enjoy the sessions physically and socially
  • To improve fitness
  • To learn training drills, play in a basketball game and learn the rules of the game, develop team spirit and become a good team member

We are applying for grants to supply all players with a playing shirt which will have their name on it and be reversible.  Having the players name on their shirt is hugely exciting for the players but also very useful for coaches as remembering the player’s names helps with behavioural management. Having the shirts being reversible allows teams to be set up, shirts quickly sorted for colours and players can then have a constant reminder of which players are on their team.
