The Perth Basketball Association is proud to welcome Craig ‘CJ’ Jackson back home to the Redbacks to lead our Men’s SBL team for 2020 and beyond.
The appointment marks the return home for CJ, with the Redbacks being the first team that brought CJ to Australia as an import in 1990. In over 260 SBL games as a player and player/coach, CJ spent a total of three seasons at Perth (1990, 1994 and 1995) and is excited to be returning to where it all began.
“CJ is known for his infectious energy and passion for basketball where ever he goes and the PBA Board believe this is the perfect appointment to commence a new exciting phase for our Men’s program,” said President Anthony Nixon.
“Our Board is committed to delivering a positive experience for our community and we are blessed to be in a position to bring CJ in to help drive this through our Men’s SBL and WABL programs.”
“CJ represents not only our values as a club, but epitomises the experience we are looking to build at all levels of our club.”
Jackson had stints as not only a player and player/coach between 1990 and 2000, and since retirement has held various positions in WA basketball. Jackson led the Cockburn Cougars MSBL team and was their Operations Manager. He then moved to Basketball WA where he was the SBL General Manager from 2008-2010 and then started SkyPlay Basketball Academy. More recently CJ was the Head Coach of the Perry Lakes Ladyhawks.
In addition to his basketball career, CJ is also heavily involved in Scotch College, not only heading up their Basketball program, but working extensively in leadership and Indigenous Mentorship roles as well.
Please join us in welcoming CJ when you see him around the club in the coming months.
