The Perth Basketball Association would like to congratulate our CEO Ryan Lenegan on his appointment as General Manager – Membership, Community and Growth at Basketball WA.
Ryan has led the Redbacks for the past four years and has been an outstanding leader for our organisation and our community. During that time he has guided the Association through a period of strong growth, strengthened our programs and competitions, and played a key role in advocating for the future of basketball in Perth — including the push for a new home stadium for the Redbacks.
Redbacks President Anthony Nixon said the appointment was a proud moment for the Association. Ryan has done an exceptional job leading the Redbacks during his time as CEO, including being awarded Basketball WA Executive of the Year for two consecutive years. The PBA Board has been a strong supporter of his development as a leader throughout that period, reflecting the Association’s broader commitment to developing people and leadership within our club and sport. While many within the club will naturally be sad to see Ryan move on from the CEO role, the Association is incredibly proud of the opportunity he has earned at Basketball WA and the impact he will have across the wider sport of basketball in Western Australia.
Ryan has also been pivotal in leading the Redbacks’ advocacy for a new home stadium — a project that remains critical for the future of basketball in Perth’s inner metropolitan area. His work in building support for this project has been significant, and the Association is pleased that in his new role at Basketball WA he will continue to support the growth of the game across the state.
The Association will immediately begin the process of appointing a new CEO to lead the Redbacks into the next chapter — including the opening of a new home stadium for our community in the years ahead. Ryan will commence in his new role in May and will continue working with the Redbacks in the interim to ensure a smooth transition to new leadership. The next leader of the Redbacks will do so with the continued support of Basketball WA and, importantly, Ryan in his new role supporting and developing associations across the state.
The Perth Basketball Association thanks Ryan for his leadership and significant contribution to the Redbacks community and wishes him every success in this exciting next stage of his career.
