- An extremely tough game today with only 6 players against Hills Raiders. Despite the score, our wonderful Redbacks girls demonstrated extraordinary heart and skill, showing that during tough times, the true beauty of basketball lies in the bonds forged through teamwork.
- Today we fought and earned each possession and blocked like a wall, limiting a potential high-scoring game for the Hills Raiders.
- An absolutely outstanding game for Shanaya Siva who flipped the switch in the last quarter, bringing her energy and desire for possession to a new level with hands as sticky and sweet as honey.
- Similarly, Ada Gliddon was on fire today with her court coverage and leading our transitions, proving to be as slippery as a crossover on a dusty court.
- Finally, a BIG thank you to Molly Hall who stepped up to support us today, having a significant presence on the court, showing it’s not how big you are but how big you play.

Won against Suns 33-11
Coach comments
- This week we played against the Suns 3s team. The start of the game was close, with us ending the first half down by 2. We struggled against their full-court pressure, dribbling when we should’ve been looking for passes.
- The girls really locked in for the second half, keeping them scoreless for the rest of the game while lifting their pressure and implementing a full-court press. The girls did much better when bringing the ball up, looking for passes, and being aware of their teammates around them.
- Shout out to Molly, who filled in for the Under 12-3s team earlier in the day. Although she was sore, she persevered and played a key role as a facilitator in the second half.
- Clara’s passing played a huge role in our transition offence. She consistently found her open teammates ahead of her, making good passes and allowing us more opportunities to score.
- Gwyn’s intense on-ball defence played a huge part in keeping the Suns scoreless in the second half. She consistently hustled to close out her player when they had the ball, applying pressure and forcing turnovers.

Lost against Perry Lakes 66-44
Coach comments
- We started the game well offensively, with Cayden Wedge leading the way early.
- The second quarter saw us continue to battle hard. Hudson McClintock and Gus Rafferty knocked down important three-pointers, while Cayden continued to attack the basket and score efficiently.
- Although Perry Lakes were able to build their lead through balanced scoring and strong ball movement, our boys continued to compete and look for opportunities at the offensive end.
- The third quarter was one of our better periods offensively. We finished the period with a burst of scoring that showed what we’re capable of when we move the ball and play with confidence.
- In the final quarter, the boys continued to fight until the final buzzer. We earned multiple trips to the free-throw line through aggressive play, and despite Perry Lakes extending their lead late, our effort never wavered.
- While the result wasn’t what we wanted, there were positives to take away. We showed improved composure against a quality opponent, had contributions from multiple players, and continued to compete for all four quarters.
- The challenge now is turning those positive stretches into longer periods of consistent basketball as we continue to develop as a team.
- Cayden Wedge led the way offensively with a game-high 22 points and added 5 rebounds and 3 steals in another strong all-round performance. He consistently attacked the basket, got to the free-throw line, and knocked down a three-pointer while putting pressure on the Hawks’ defence.
- Alex Litas made a huge impact, finishing with 7 points, 3 deflections, and an outstanding 8 steals. His relentless defensive pressure, active hands, and ability to read the play continually disrupted the opposition and created extra opportunities for our team. Combined with his contribution on the scoreboard, Alex delivered a strong all-round performance.

- We had a complete offensive performance against Hawks, with everyone getting involved in the attack. Our ball movement improved significantly from where it had been, and the boys listened well to the defensive instructions. It was a major improvement after we had lost some form over the past few weeks.
- Bede Whitehouse was outstanding. We are very proud of the way he accepted coach feedback and had one of his best games all season.
- Kedar McCollough led our offense with 12 points in the first quarter, and then allowed his gravity to help make plays for his teammates.
- Abimanyu Maciazek’s rebounding and interior presence were important in stunting a Perry Lakes second quarter run.

Coach comments
- It was a tough loss for us, playing with only 8 players. The boys played with heart throughout the entire game, and we had some very unlucky calls go against us.
- Overall, the boys played very well despite the final outcome.
- Riley kept moving the ball up and down the court and was a vital part of getting the ball moving quickly in transition for us to score!
- Meanwhile, our big men Henry and Harlan played a strong game throughout. Even though they both fouled out in the last quarter, they played their hardest and put together their most solid game of the season so far.

Lost against Rockingham 63-48
Coach comments
- A tough loss for the girls. The girls kept the game super competitive for the first 3 quarters, going back and forth with Rockingham. However, we ran out of legs, and Rockingham took advantage and never let up in the 4th quarter.
- Rose Bacci played with lots of confidence on the offensive end, looking for her shot as well as moving the ball to get her teammates open. She finished with a team high 10 points.
- Elsey Lohman White, week in and week out, does a great job of bringing the ball up the floor and getting us into our offensive flow. She also did an amazing job defensively, keeping players in front of her and moving her feet.

Coach comments
- With only 5 of our original players, it was always going to be a big ask for the girls and our 2 fill-ins, to be competitive.
- Once we took our hands out of the game, we got some really great looks. Massive credit and big thank you to Sabrina & Sophie who performed really well.
- The whole team really gave everything they could whilst being down 4 players.
- Charlee got many rebounds and was patient in our press breaker. At times she also brought up the ball for us. Her patience and confidence is improving each week.
- Our fill-ins, Sophie & Sabrina did a great job. Sophie put up some great shots and managed to weave her way into the keyway for a few layups.
- Sabrina did a great job defensively! When beat, she pushed and got back in front. Her length really disrupted their shots & influenced their shots.

- Super proud of the way our short handed team battled against the top team in our division.
- The team did a great job handling their pressure for the most part which will help us over the back part of the season.
- Madelyn Duffield played her best game of the season. Being aggressive from the opening jump and leading the team in scoring. Great job.
- Our three bigs completed hard on the glass throughout the game against much taller and more aggressive opponents.

Lost against Warwick 45-49
Coach comments
- A hard game to play early in the morning, down one player with another sick. We gave a good push to the top team, leading at halftime, but ultimately fell short by 4.
- We started slowly in the first quarter but managed to find a gear in the second. However, as we began the third quarter up 7, we struggled to find our footing and keep ourselves in the game, which led to us trailing at the end of the third and losing by 4.
- An unlucky effort, but it goes to show how determined you need to be at all times if you want to pull off a win against a top team like Warwick.
- Talin McCullough had great defensive pressure and the ability to score with the ball in his hands, knocking down two nice three-pointers. His ball carrying was superb; being able to handle pressure and find the next open player is a valuable skill to have.
- Rintaro Haginiwa played amazingly off the ball and shut out the league-leading scorer once again. His ability to put his body on the line and stand his ground is what forces players to take poor shots against him and gives him easy rebounds in return.

Won against East Perth 60-44
Coach comments
- The boys delivered a strong all-round performance as a team. The last time we played this opposition, we lost by 14 points, so the boys came into the game determined to work hard at both ends of the court.
- Their defensive intensity and commitment to playing as a team made a real difference, and their effort throughout the game allowed us to come away with a well-deserved win.
- It was great to see the boys apply what we’ve been working on and be rewarded for their hard work.
- Frankie was a strong presence on the defensive end, taking on mismatches and consistently winning his battles. He made numerous hustle plays that led to crucial stops and forced turnovers. Offensively, Frankie played with composure, making smart decisions and creating quality scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates. It was an excellent all-round performance.
- Zac was a dominant presence on the boards, using his physicality effectively to secure rebounds at both ends of the court. His aggressive drives to the basket created high-quality scoring opportunities for himself and set the tone for the way the team attacked offensively. Zac’s intensity and willingness to play through contact had a positive impact throughout the game.

- A very solid game today girls, with just 5 regular players and 2 full-ins.
- We did a great job integrating our fill-in players into the defence. Sally snuck us the first bucket of the game and both Sally and Freya claimed their fair share of rebounds to give us defensive stops and second chances in offence.
- Overall, there were a lot of times we slowed the ball down really well to control the game tempo and structure our offence, so that was great discipline.
- Great discipline for the whole team to stay out of fouls and have 7 players at the end.
- We let a few get past us in Q4 with game fatigue, but for the most part, we saw good hard running. With low subs for the second game in a row, you girls are building some game fitness by default.
- I think we should be confident that with a full line up we can roll the flames next time!! Looking forward to the return of Lauren, Saachi, Annabelle, Harper and Alyssa.
- Georgie Clarke always plays to win, with a strong work rate, composure, and a diligent mindset to make adjustments throughout the game. Despite the frustration of some good shots not dropping in the first half, Georgie kept her head in the game and finished strongly with 18 points in the second half, ending the game with 26 points and showing some class in her 50th WABL game.
- The low squad numbers this month and the extra minutes for Maia Leckey have seen her really play herself into great form. She is playing with confidence and freedom, finding a lot more of the ball.

Coach comments
- Our players came with a lot of energy and a determination to focus this into our defense and they did just that.
- On ball and off ball pressure was good from the start.
- Offensively the players played with positivity and focus throughout the game.
- Rebounding effort was also good, which is something we’d been a little off on in recent weeks, so there were a lot of positives to take away.
- Most pleasing was the team’s collective focus, which they maintained from start to finish, and the players’ ability to adjust to the Hawks’ changing defensive strategies.
- Every player played really well and contributed throughout and each is worthy of a mention.
- Short-handed again, we were supported by Ava Kemp, who played really well, running lanes, fighting for boards, and applying great defence at every opportunity.
- This week we also had Lilly Butler come up from the 14s, and she impressed with excellent defence, creating a number of opposition turnovers, along with showing great poise in her ball-handling and offensive play.
- Freya Whitehouse had a field day on the scoreboard as our first player this season to break the 20 point barrier, and she also showed great effort on the defensive end.
- Isla Cowman played long minutes and maintained incredible effort and intensity throughout every one of them, making her a key contributor on both ends of the floor.
- Eva Blyth was really determined on the boards, putting in an effort that earned her first choice of the team’s Krispy Kreme reward!
- Alida Barmentloo was huge with all the team things, pulling down 15 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists for the game.
- We’d like to thank all the officials who had to stay back late and did a great job for what ended up being a very late finish at the end of a very long day.

- A great first half for the girls, controlling the game and applying strong pressure. The Suns struggled with the pressure the girls applied, allowing us to gain an early 10-point lead.
- The Suns came out firing in the second half, going on a few runs that saw them take the lead late in the 4th.
- A clutch 3 saw us tie the game and send it to OT, where the girls were able to get an early edge and not look back.
- Allegra Care did a really great job communicating on the court and making sure everyone was on the same page defensively. She also contributed on the offensive end, finishing with 13 points.
- Bianca Bajin played a great offensive game, putting 16 points on the board, but the standout was her impressive defence, finishing with 13 deflections and 15 steals.
- A massive thank you to Rose Bacci, Elsey Lohman White, and Olive Bird, who stepped up and filled in. Rose Bacci finished with 21 points, including the big 3 to send the game into overtime.

- The final game before the break had us on the road to Bunbury. Making the trip down with only six players available, we knew we needed to be really switched on!
- What happened next was awesome to watch! The boys played fantastically, pushing the pace and locking down on the defensive end, playing every possession on its merits to come away with our biggest win of the season.
- Four athletes had season-high scoring performances this week. It was fantastic to see them all rewarded for the hard work they’ve put in throughout the season:
- Vincent Ryder – 31 points
- Seb Doyle – 28 points
- Erik Davies – 24 points
- Will Hemingway – 18 points

- We made it hard for ourselves again this week. With a couple players out, it was a great opportunity for players to step up into different roles and experience a change.
- Things were equal in the first and third quarters, but we really let it slip away from us in the second quarter. It was a real struggle to get back in transition D, and we gave away most of our points this way through turnovers.
- The fourth was our highlight again where the boys switched on with aggressive D, forced turnovers in the mid-court, worked hard on defensive rebounds and started to gain momentum in transition O.
- Credit to them for not giving up even when down by double digits.
- Kruz hit his 50th game milestone this week. He had a good defensive game and, as always, showed superb ball control to lift our pace in transition.
- Leo is always thinking about how to improve and asks for guidance. We needed him to play big and hustle on the defensive boards, and he did that in the second half to give us a few advantages in transition.
- Warrein took bad closeouts to get advantages and backdoor cuts for easy finishes.
- Caelan’s rip-away baseline drives afford us advantages.

- After losing to them earlier in the season, the girls were keen to make amends. To the girls’ credit, we led for most of the game. We were challenged in the third quarter, but our resilience has been growing as the season has gone on, and we steadied in the fourth.
- So proud of the girls this week under very challenging conditions at Lakeside.
- Halle Griffiths had an exceptional game from start to finish. Her defence and pressure have always been a highlight, but now she is becoming an even bigger threat offensively. She’s really building confidence and belief.
- Cara Hayes is becoming Miss fourth quarter. For the second week in a row, she really stepped up when we needed her most. Her decision making under pressure when the game is close has been amazing.
- Cherie Zak is continuing to have her most consistent season. She has top scored in a lot of games this year, and her all around game is impressive. Even coming off the bench this week didn’t phase her confidence.

- This was a fast-paced matchup from the tipoff. I’m so proud of the girls – their teamwork was solid, their pace was strong, their shot selection was excellent, and their transition spacing was clever.

- We started the game really well going into the 1st break only 3 points down.
- Unfortunately a combination of injury, illness and foul troubles meant we ran out of fresh legs from that point and Rockingham ran over the top of us.
- Alysha Robinson presented all game long in the keyway and was a strong presence. Her improvement and growing confidence over the last few weeks has been great to watch.
- Jamie Thysse chased hard all game and continued to put in great effort.
- Gracie Nash moved the ball much quicker and more consistently this game, making some really good decisions to involve her teammates, which was really pleasing.

- The guys’ determination really showcased in this game, and together with following strategic instructions to the tee, we beat the second on the ladder team.
- The game was very close the whole way through, but the overall vibe was that we were the superior side and that the game was ours to lose. Another rippa game!
- Jay Hazell was once again very strong on both sides of the floor, keeping their bigs away from the rim while scoring at will on the offensive end.
- Hamish Gibson did an amazing job as the starting PG, pushing hard forward, scoring from behind the arc, taking charges, and applying strong pressure on ball handlers.
- Ethan Wood Hill put his hand up to guard the opposition’s best player and limited him to a lower impact than his average.
