Originally founded in 2015 under the name Woods & Associates Insurance Brokers, in 2018 that business merged with Midland Insurance Brokers (whose head office is in Melbourne). Together they formed Woods Midland Insurance Brokers.
Woods Midland is based in South Perth and provide general insurance broking services. This includes the placement of insurance policies with a range of National and International insurers. These services are provided across industries including multi-national Mining companies, Corporate, Professional Service and SME businesses. They also arrange personal insurances. The types of insurance policies Woods Midland put in place include Property, Liability, Directors and Officers, Professional Indemnity, Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle covers. They also arrange Home and Contents, Motor Vehicle and Boat insurance for some of their clients.
So, what’s the link to Perth Redbacks?
Simon Woods is the majority owner of Woods Midland. He and wife Kate have daughters Isabella (U16) and Harriet (U14) who have both played WABL for the Redbacks since 2018 and a son Max who recently played in his first U11 State Champs and has been selected to play in one of the U12 WABL teams when the season starts. All three kids play in the PBA Domestic competition.
Simon has been a Redbacks board member since the end of 2018 and says:
The Redbacks family experience is one that we treasure and we all, as a family, have made some great friends through the club. I believe in the direction that the club is taking, its inclusivity and the fact that we are often battling a bit outside our weight division (I am also a Fremantle supporter). I like to think our sponsorship helps Redbacks continue to ‘fight the good fight’ a little.
