After finishing on top of the ladder with a 15-1 record for the season, our U12 Champs Division Girls won their way through to the Grand Final with a hard-fought 65-53 semi-final win over the Joondalup Wolves.
Waiting for them in the GF was the Warwick Senators – the team responsible for their one loss during the season. That loss came after an epic overtime game where the 12 Champs girls found themselves down to 3 players in OT after their other 4 players had fouled out.
With only 7 players again available for the Grand Final, the goal would be to stay out of foul trouble. And thankfully, that’s what they did.
The game was tight all the way through the first half, with only 5 points separating the teams at halftime. A remarkable 19-5 third quarter for the Redbacks girls ended up being the difference in the game and set them up for a 63-43 victory when the full-time buzzer sounded.
Jemilla Barr was named Grand Final MVP and this Grand Final win is the second in a row for coach Josh Wallace.
