Lost against Mandurah 56-33
Coach comments
- The girls struggled a bit with physicality this game as Mandurah really pushed us! I am really proud of the girls’ leadership and resilience in this game.
- A highlight was definitely our defence, specifically our traps, as they caused Mandurah to turn over the ball!
- Erin Halley was a standout player today, she absolutely dominated defensively, shutting down Mandurah’s best player and taking away her ability to shoot and catch the ball – incredible game!
- Mabel Parkin took a hard knock early on but responded really well and came back stronger. She finished as our highest scorer with 10 points, and her shot selection throughout was excellent. The fact her shots were dropping shows the work she’s been putting in at training is paying off. Proud of you Mabel.
- Niyala’s fitness in this game was much improved, and her strength and confidence are starting to show on court. When she drove the ball all the way to the basket she was unstoppable. Keep up the hard work!

Lost against Lakeside 19-39
Coach comments
- This was a very fast paced game and had an exciting atmosphere from both teams parent group and bench culture.
- Defensively we did very well for 3.5 quarters and Lakeside then were able to go on a run late in the 4th.
- All the girls played their best game so far on Sunday and we showed where our potential could be in our development journey.
- Narayana Daley was fantastic handling the ball in the back court under pressure, was aggressive attacking the basket and gathering rebounds.
- Myla Small was starting to break open the middle third and get run outs before unfortunately getting injured in the 3rd.
- India Mascurine found her defensive form applying pressure to ball carriers and causing turnovers.

Won against Perth Redbacks U12-4 23-41
Coach comments
- What a great day in the Redbacks neighborhood with a very special Derby between our awesome Redbacks Girls 3s and 4s.
- Whilst we kept the Redbacks 4’s at bay throughout the game in leading at each quarter, our opposition (friends) drew from deep within themselves to give us somewhat of a fright by limiting our score to 1 goal in the final quarter. Despite this our girls demonstrated courage and fight throughout the game. Today both teams learnt that nobody who ever gave their best, regretted it! Whoop Whoop!
- With an outstanding game, outstanding players are found. Zara Wong was noticeable, strong and highly completive under an unforgiving offensive ring today demonstrating her great potential and value to the team.
- Ava Horsten continually created great space, often being the first up the court and was duly rewarded with her first (of many) points of the season.
- Shanaya Siva is proving to be a defensive force with her lightning quick hands and her hunger for the ball, creating many favorable turnovers, initiating charges towards the ring.

Lost against Perth Redbacks U12-3 23-41
Coach comments
- The girls went into round 3 excited and energetic playing against the Redbacks 3s team.
- The first quarter was tough with the 3s team displaying amazing defensive pressure, however the girls stayed strong and kept playing their game.
- By the last quarter we had gone from scoring 3 points a quarter to 8.
- Gwyn has shown incredible sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the last few weeks, she always cheers on her team and gives high fives. This lifted the girls through the game and especially in the final quarter.
- Indi showed her understanding of outlet passing and transition, perfectly finding open lanes and great passes every time, creating scoring opportunities not only for herself but for her teammates.

Coach comments
- This weekend we proved that we can win the ugly games. We played hard, overcame shooting struggles, and adapted to feedback and withstood pressure at the end of the game to hold on against a feisty Suns outfit. Credit to the boys for their maturity.
- Bede Southwell had an excellent game. Defensively, his pressure set the tone for the rest of the team and offensively he made correct decision after correct decision.
- Zach Harris was unlucky shooting the ball, but consistently dribbled himself to space and took good looks as well as being a presence on the offensive glass.
- Kedar McCollough rebounded exceptionally, buying us extra possessions and making heads up plays repeatedly.

Won against Rockingham 51-48
Coach comments
- We had a very slow start to the game. Rockingham came out big and bold, while we came out a step behind.
- From the beginning, we definitely felt the absence of Riley and his contagious energy.
- There was strong determination in the group, with the boys constantly reminding each other they weren’t going to lose on Mum’s Day or that they were going to win it for Mum. As the game went on, that mindset showed through and helped us respond to Rockingham’s start.
- Ari was an absolute gun, taking hits left and right. He was a playmaker and a troublemaker on the court!
- Orson came out with real intensity in this game. In the first quarter, he was getting pushed around a bit, but he responded strongly and set the tone from there. He lifted his physicality and presence, showing them who was in control by using that competitive edge to his advantage.
- Brendan played super hard on Sunday, applying pressure on the ball from the get-go and setting the tone with his effort. He stepped up as a leader on court, helping organise the boys to spread the floor and get back in defence early.
12-5 Boys – Craig Dropulich (sponsored by Ganjing World)
Won against Raiders 41-61
Coach comments
- A good game for the boys to grab their first win of the season, a shaky first few minutes put us down 10-4, however from there on out, the boys did not look back and pushed ahead and got up by 20.
- The boys gave it their all out on the court with outstanding effort to pressure the ball on defense and playing exceptional help defense allowed for us to force some easy turnovers and punish them going the other way.
- We saw what true team basketball looked like, with each player finding someone in a better position to get the easiest basket for the team. A very good team effort the boys should be very happy with.
- Regis Qi Ye Luong was our best defender by far, mastering defensive positioning on anyone he guarded, keeping himself low and cutting off drives forced players going against him to either turn it over or give it up to someone else. Regis is looking comfortable with the ball in his hands in the way he drives and makes space.
- Felix Kai Chwan Tan could have had 10+ assists today, his passing was superb whether it came from the inbound which gave us easy fast break buckets, or from down low after receiving a pass. Felix continues to be a great asset, his quick thinking on offense gets him past his defenders for easy buckets, and his mid range shot is deadly. Keep up the good work Felix.

Won against Willetton 53-42
Coach comments
- Another amazing win for the girls, a massive confidence boost for them.
- It was good to see how the girls handled the runs from Willetton after giving up a 10 point lead. The girls were able to regroup and gain the lead back.
- This was a great team win. The girls moved the ball and made the extra pass to an open teammate.
- Erin Foley had an outstanding defensive game. Putting lots of pressure on the ball and denying every pass.
- Olive Bird had a great all round game. She was super aggressive on the offensive end as well as putting pressure on willetton ball handlers

Lost against Lakeside 36-53
Coach comments
- The game started fantastically. We got the ball up the floor through passing and had many fast breaks to gain the early lead.
- Lakeside changed their defense and we struggled to progress the ball. After we settled, we stopped Lakeside from extending their lead into a major blow out.
- Isabella had a very strong performance and was often the key to us being able to progress the ball up the floor.
- Lilly, although our smallest player, dominated the rebounds by chasing after every opportunity. She was also a great defender on the ball and in help positions.
- Eva did a great job adjusting to the defense and had some really great passes, giving her team mates an opportunity to score.

Lost against Hills 20-24
Coach comments
- Unfortunately, Sunday just wasn’t our day. In a low‑scoring contest, the bounce of the ball didn’t fall our way, and while the effort was there, we struggled to finish and rebound consistently.
- Katie Cross after taking a big hit in the 1st Qtr, bounced back and really started to show the way she can play with some great passes.
- Ella Jones battled on the glass all day and finished as our leading scorer.

Lost against Lakeside 62-67
Coach comments
- We played in an entertaining game against a talented Lakeside team. It was a high scoring, closely contested game that was alive late but we fell short.
- Given Lakeside beat us convincingly at grading, the boys showed some growth as a team and protected the ball much better on the weekend and created numerous opportunities defending the whole court and we showed some offensive talent in transition.
- It was a much better second up game and we will go to work to correct the one sided rebounding count.
- Harry F had an influential game and is starting to impact both sides of the ball, helping get us out and running in transition.
- Ned T, coming off injury and limited training, showed his finishing ability and strong off-ball movement, and gave the team a real lift whenever he was on the court.

Coach comments
- A good game from us this week, we started off well for the first time this season and continued that form for most of the game, even extending to a lead of 10 in the middle of the third quarter.
- All the parts of our game worked well but more work is needed on finishing our lay-ups and simpler shots and free throws.
- The game could have gone either way as we were unlucky to miss these easy opportunities to go ahead.
- Lenny Brown was a presence in rebounding this week as he utilised his physicality to earn boards for his team around the basket. On offense, Lenny looked comfortable and nailed 2 three-pointers.
- Julian Morris came off the bench and physically dominated around the basket with scoring and rebounding and being super aggressive against the opposing team’s big men and rebounders, making great progress in his first year of WABL.
14-3 Boys – Dom Pitchen (sponsored by Candy Verse)
Won against Suns 73-54
Coach comments
- The game started strongly, with the boys moving the ball well and consistently finding good scoring opportunities.
- Their defensive pressure was excellent, allowing them to force numerous turnovers and create transition chances. At times the tempo became a little rushed, but the boys responded well by settling themselves, regaining composure, and continuing to execute efficiently on both ends of the floor.
- Overall, it was a well-rounded performance that showed strong effort, resilience, and commitment from the entire team.
- Tyler was a strong presence on both ends of the court throughout the game. Defensively, he applied excellent on-ball pressure which forced numerous turnovers and disrupted the opposition’s rhythm. Offensively, he did a great job creating scoring opportunities for himself while also involving his teammates and making smart decisions with the ball.
- Levi was a strong on-ball defensive presence and consistently applied pressure that helped force multiple turnovers. His defensive intensity created several easy fast-break opportunities for the team and helped maintain the game’s momentum.
- Elliot was a strong contributor on both ends of the floor. His speed and athleticism allowed him to create many offensive opportunities for both himself and his teammates. He attacked the game with confidence, applied good pressure defensively, and worked hard in transition. Elliot’s ability to impact the game in multiple ways was very valuable to the team’s performance.

- The boys came out strong and played for each other rather than themselves, which was great to see.
- A close game the entire way through, they played physical which was needed, and held their heads up for the game.
- Flynn came out strong from the start setting the tone for the boys along with hyping everyone up.
- Santi is starting to show he can step into that point guard role and help guide the other boys through the game.
- Tommy, while a smaller big man, continues to show he’s just as strong and competitive as the bigger bodies he’s matched up against.

Lost against Warwick 99-38
Coach comments
- The girls played against a very good Warwick side. They did everything right to frustrate us.
- The girls still battled through and didn’t quit on themselves, which given our inexperience and youth was great to see.
- We had a few runs where we played some inspired basketball with good movement and tough defence. We now need to work on making that standard consistent.
- Credit to all the girls who played through the adversity, standouts in today’s game were Hayley, Ella and Siena.
16-2 Girls – Reid Ballantine (sponsored by Access Hire)
Lost against Eastern Suns 57-67
Coach comments
- Top of the table clash and a proper battle all game.
- Up by 3 at half time, and a great defensive start to the third quarter saw us build a lead of 13, but running with just 8 players in Q3 and 7 in Q4, we faded throughout the second half and the Suns’ transition speed had us beat this time.
- A huge improvement from when we played Suns at grading, and on the whole, the girls are playing with great spirit.
- Saachi Ti’en had a cracker! Some strong moves to the bucket and a special deep 3 half time buzzer beater on her way to 11 points. Unlucky to foul out this time and was missed in Q4.
- Alyssa Rullo played great denial defence on the Suns top score and held her to zero. Alyssa then also defended the Suns ‘big’ for a long stint and also shut her out of the game. A committed defensive game and a cheeky 9 points.
- Annabella Lewis played some great man on man defence and really gave them a hard time. A great teammate always working hard off the ball.
- Olivia Birsa was also playing really alert defence in the first half but was injured and we really missed her in the second half.

Won against Mandurah 61-56
Coach comments
- We started with a team photo with our fabulous Redbacks Mum’s to celebrate the special day and then got stuck into the action.
- After some early wastefulness we cleaned up our ball advancement and converted well to take a handy lead at quarter time.
- In quarters two and three we lost some of our focus, allowing our opposition to come back into the game.
- The players’ effort in the last quarter to refocus and elevate their efforts late in the game to secure the win was pleasing. To do this after playing long minutes with a short roster and a mounting foul count is a credit to the team.
- Freya Whitehouse was a star throughout the game securing 12 rebounds (including 6 offensive) along with 5 steals and a block (without any fouls) plus 3 assists and valuable work in transition offense, she did it all.
- Winnie Devitt returned from illness scoring 13 points at 43% alongside some great rebounds and her customary bag of steals and deflections. Is showing great improvement in her offensive control to go with her electrifying pace.
- Eloise Clince had 13 points at 60% plus 8 rebounds and 6 steals. Her composure and decision making with the ball in hand is great to watch.
- Eva Blyth had the Mandurah girls in a spin with her trademark shot fakes and efficient finishing.
- Isla Cowman played her heart out all game, strapping the team on her back in the last quarter to win crucial possessions through steals and determined rebounding to go with a clutch drive in the final minutes.
- Nora Ostermeyer may set the best screens in the league to go with her strong inside finishing with both of these skills on display this week.

Won against Raiders 88-39
Coach comments
- Another big win by the girls this week. While we knew we had an easier start to the season with some of the lesser teams first up, it’s been the perfect platform for our girls to gain confidence.
- We now feel ready to tackle some of the better opponents in our grade.
- This week saw a few breakout performers. Allegra Care was outstanding with an efficient 11 points, while also contributing 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 deflections and 5 steals. She brought leadership and poise to the game.
- Ava Rahimi is starting to really improve her read of the play in the mid-line of our press. She is reacting quicker, anticipating passes and putting herself in the right spots defensively, which showed in her numbers as she finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 deflections and 6 steals.
- Lily Yin’s offensive rebounding was a real highlight of the game. She attacked the boards relentlessly and scored 6 of her 8 points directly from offensive rebounds. Lily also finished with 9 rebounds overall (5 offensive), 4 assists, 2 deflections and 4 steals.

- A tough day out for the boys, up against a really talented Warwick outfit.
- A slow start saw us down big early. However, the boys stuck together to ensure they played the remaining 3quarters on their merit.
- A great run in the third saw us cut the lead back to 10, but ultimately the Senators were too good across 4 quarters. Lots to like, lots to learn!
- Texas Tierney led from the front with his effort and intensity on court. Tex’s commitment and dedication to the team was on full display, and today he finally saw the results on his hard work – 30pts, x5 3pt makes, and huge rebounds along the way.

- When we looked to pass through transition O and run ahead, we found easy early opportunities.
- The boys worked hard in transition D, recovering over screens and doing a really good job to contest passes. When we stayed focused defensively and tracked our players to apply pressure, we forced turnovers.
- Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep that focus in the second half. We struggled to coordinate matchups and pickup ball early in transition D.
- Early in the game, we held good spacing in O which afforded us advantages and open shots and layups. As the game went on, we really struggled to maintain good spacing in transition and forced too many shots.
- Kai had good footwork and squared up to use his chest in transition D. He made the right reads on passing through in transition O.
- Tom did well to pull down offensive and defensive rebounds. He found good timing on his backdoor cuts to finish. Good to see Tom box out first. He denied the key inbound passes and caused turnovers.
- Eli had good spacing in transition O and safety, looked up for the kick-ahead passes and found good timing on rolling to basket to receive and finish.
- Aiden did well to support his teammates during defensive possession and contest passes in D.
- Mitch did well to hunt rebounds, finish quickly to avoid contest and get right on D immediately to deny the inbound. He worked through screens to hunt his player down.

- Round 3 saw another tough assignment in the form of the Senators – who are a top 2 team in the comp.
- We dominated all facets of the game early, executing our game plan with precision in the first half to take a handy 10pt lead.
- Senators turned the screws in the 3rd quarter and we found ourselves trailing for the remainder of the game, struggling to wrestle any momentum back.
- With less than a minute to go, down by 4, we managed to claw into the deficit and get ourselves within reach. However, the shots wouldn’t fall for us down the stretch, Senators eventually extending their lead to 9 to end the game.
- Darcie Threlfall imposed her physical dominance on this game and provided great energy off the bench. She had her hand in a bit of everything for us, finishing with 12pts, 7reb, 4as and 3stl.
- Gabby Silvester continues her hot streak of scoring, averaging 22ppg for the season so far. Her quick reactions and blistering pace saw her convert plenty of points in transition for us.
- Madi Makavilitogia had an immediate impact off the bench when she checked into the game. Her post-game offers us some great variation in attack and her comms on the floor anchors us defensively.

- It was a very tough and physical game and the girls really stood up to the challenge.
- In the 3rd quarter the game was in the balance, players were tired and things got a little messy, but we were the group that steadied first.
- In the past under that kind of pressure we may have panicked, but we stayed composed, settled into our structure, and pushed the game out beyond reach.
- The girls’ willingness to play for each other at the moment is a real highlight.
- Salma Rahmadavi had her best game of the year. Not only was she a scoring threat but she stayed in control and looked after the ball well. That’s what you want from your point guard, she also rebounded very well for her position.
- Lottie Ballentine had another great game patrolling the paint. She rebounded, she scored and played great interior defence. She is fast becoming the anchor of our offence and defence.
- Paige Ogden returned from injury to play her first game of the season. She started getting her groove back in the 2nd half which was great to see.

- Our team struggled again in the first quarter, but the girls responded really well and played some outstanding full-court defence over the last three quarters, taking it right up to team 3.
- The group also came together and played for each other. They showed patience on offence and regularly gave up a good shot for a better one.
- Given the emotion of a Redbacks derby I was impressed by the way the team was able to bounce back and take the emotion of the contest in stride.
- Gracie Nash led from the front attacking the rim relentlessly to get on the scoreboard but more impressively making good decisions on when to bring others into the game and when to be patient.
- Chelsea Ferris was outstanding defensively, playing a key role as an interceptor and rewarding the hard work of our guards in the full-court press and then battling under the ring to contest shots and rebound in our half court defense.

- A really solid team win against Joondalup. While the game was fairly tight in the first half, I felt we were in control and just waiting for the moment to break the game open. We did that in the third quarter with our defensive pressure lifting another level and our transition game creating easy scoring opportunities.
- Defensively, the boys were strong all game. We controlled the offensive rebounds well creating plenty of second-chance opportunities, forced turnovers and shared the ball well when we got out and ran.
- One of the most pleasing parts was the team attitude, especially with a couple players dealing with foul trouble in the third quarter. The energy and support from the bench never dropped, with the boys staying engaged, encouraging each other and celebrating teammates making plays, which helped maintain our momentum throughout the game.
- Dylan Jardine really stood up in the third quarter, rebounding strongly, finishing tough putbacks and working hard to establish good position inside for teammates to find him.
- Loro Wol once again provided a spark offensively, using his length well for offensive rebounds, deflections and steals while bringing great energy at both ends.
- Lucas Pardini is continuing to find his form after a long stint on the sidelines through injury. His defensive pressure was excellent and he created a number of important stops and steals through effort and intensity.

- Round 3 we came in knowing Flames would be a team we would need to work hard throughout to beat. Really proud of the boys for chasing Flames throughout the game.
- Q2 we lost by 2 points and ended a strong Q3 to close the margin.
- At the start of Q4 we were trailing by 3pts and Flames took the lead.
- We showed how composed offence kept us in the game, and the improvement we worked on from last week was a stronger defence, which helped us stay in the game throughout.
- Lucas had a fantastic game, both on defence and offence. It’s always incredible to watch his focus and the strength he brings to his game. His defence against Flames PG was impressive.
- Macen coming back from injury had the bench saying, “He is back!” His strength and power under the rim are a real force, and it’s great to have him showing Flames what to expect next time.

- Played really well 1st & 2nd qtr.
- We were hesitant to push the ball through the 3rd and 4th qtr but eventually did and got a great transition offence.
- We executed and adjusted really well after timeouts. We pushed the ball in transition to beat their zone defence.
- Dakota and Steph both dominated in the transition space, leading scorers with 18 each.
- Theory continued to knock down some great shots from the 3 point line.

- It was an early top-of-the-table clash between two strong teams.
- The game went back and forth throughout the first two quarters, with us holding a slight lead at halftime.
- Joondalup came out after halftime in another gear that we weren’t ready for, taking us away from our game plan.
- We lost the third quarter 31–16, which ultimately proved to be the difference.
- In the fourth quarter, we continued to fight hard, but we weren’t able to claw back the lead Joondalup had built during the third term.
- Being this early in the season, there is still plenty for us to learn and grow from. We get the chance to face Joondalup again in Round 10 and look forward to the opportunity to redeem ourselves.
- Cale Buzzard finished the game strong with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
- Isaac Moore had a solid game with 9 points and 5 rebounds.

- The boys were on fire from the get go. Scoring at a very high percentage and applying a very disciplined defence. Although we had a significant height and mass disadvantage, we managed to answer anything Binar was trying to pile on us.
- In the second half, Binar started hitting their shots and put some more physical pressure on us, but the fact that the whole team was playing great and doing their individual tasks gave us a great win against one of the toughest teams in the competition.
- Although the whole team was doing a phenomenal job, us coaches cannot ignore the scoring and scoring percentages of 3 of our players in particular;
- Cuba Brian with 38 points (70 2FG%,46.7 3FG% and 4 steals),
- Jack Ryder with 33 points (61.1 2FG%, 9 assists and 7 rebounds) and
- Jay Hazel with 20 points ( 62.5 2FG%, 42.9 3FG% and 8 rebounds). Quite amazing!
