WSBL Head Coach Appointment

The Perth Basketball Association is excited to announce the appointment of Craig Allen as our Women’s SBL Head Coach for the next three seasons.

Craig joins the Redbacks from an extensive playing, coaching and administrative career at Willetton and is the current Under 20 Women’s State Team Coach. Over the past 10 years, Craig has coached extensively at the female WABL level with Willetton and has been a long-serving assistant to the WSBL program there.

The PBA Board engaged current Perth Lynx and WNBL Coach of the Year Andy Stewart and his company Coaching Hoops to guide the club through the interview and appointment process.

“After meeting with our players, we had a clear vision to invest in our Women’s program for the long-term with a committed Women’s coach that aligned with the culture and values of what the club is trying to achieve,” said President Anthony Nixon.

“The Board is very excited by Craig’s vision for the development of our Redbacks SBL players and juniors, building team culture and stability, whilst having a clear goal to compete for SBL championships.”

Allen joins the club at an exciting time and is ready to get straight to work for 2019.

“It’s an absolute privilege to be taking on the role as Head Coach at the Perth Redbacks,” said Allen.

“I’m extremely excited about the direction the club is heading and I would like to thank the Board and General Manager for giving me the opportunity to be a part of that future.”

The Board would like to thank Andy Stewart and his team for their professionalism through this process. The focus will now shift to immediately assembling our WSBL squad for 2019.
