Life Member Profile – Ian Frame

Ian Frame was an outstanding junior player and State representative with the Subiaco Basketball Club before joining the PBA as a senior player in 1980.

Ian gave outstanding service to the club as a skilful point guard in the transition period from District A Grade to the SBL and also played for the Westate Wildcats in their inaugural 1983 NBL team.

As a Redback, Ian played under coaches Ian Sharp, Don Shepherd and Matt Ivulich. As a teacher at Kent St SHS in the 1980s he recruited and developed many fine players and future members as part of the PBA’s junior development program.  At the same time, Ian gave valuable service as Chairman of the Club’s Junior Committee from 1983-1988.

Following his retirement as a player, Ian became the SBL Men’s coach from 1994-96.

In 1987 Ian was awarded the President’s Trophy as Association Member of the Year and in 1998 he was awarded the Medal of Honour and listed on the PBA Role of Honour.

Ian remains an enthusiastic supporter of the Redbacks and Life Member functions.

He was made a Life Member in 1987.
